Job Summary:
The Litigation Associate is responsible for supporting and managing civil litigation matters under the supervision of senior attorneys or partners. This role involves legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, handling discovery, and representing clients in court proceedings. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple cases in a fast-paced legal environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on a wide range of litigation issues
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents
  • Manage all phases of discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and depositions
  • Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations (as appropriate)
  • Assist in trial preparation, including preparing witnesses, exhibits, and trial strategy materials
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel
  • Participate in case strategy development and provide recommendations to senior attorneys
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with court rules, deadlines, and procedural requirements

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in Federal and State courts in North Carolina
  • 3 years of litigation experience
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with federal and state court procedures and rules
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience handling depositions and court appearances independently
  • Knowledge of e-discovery tools and litigation technology
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • High level of professionalism and ethical judgment

Work Environment:

  • Office-based legal practice with frequent deadlines and occasional extended hours
  • May require travel for court appearances, depositions, or client meetings
